Stephen King Playfully Taunts Elon Musk Over His New AI Chatbot
Stephen King, the renowned horror author, is known for his candid and unfiltered presence on social media platforms, particularly Twitter. Lately, he has directed some of his candid feelings toward Elon Musk, the tech magnate.
Last week, Stephen King took to Twitter with a request, advocating for a return to calling the platform “Twitter” and stating, “This X sh*t’s got to go.” It’s evident that he’s not a fan of the recent platform rebranding.
Elon Musk, in his characteristic fashion, recently unveiled his latest creation, an AI chatbot named Grok. Musk’s choice of name is a nod to his deep affection for science fiction. The chatbot was introduced to a select group of users and is expected to become available to Premium+ subscribers once it exits the early beta phase.
Upon learning of this announcement, Stephen King couldn’t resist offering his succinct and somewhat sardonic response, “Big whoop,” in a quote tweet.
Elon Musk, who often enjoys a playful exchange on Twitter, responded with laughing emojis and the question, “Wanna try it?” It appears that King has not taken up Musk’s offer as of the time of writing.
While Stephen King has shared his fascination with the concept of AI potentially creating fiction, describing it as a “dreadful fascination,” it seems that Grok, Musk’s AI chatbot, doesn’t quite captivate the prolific author in the same way. Despite their differences, it’s evident that Musk holds some admiration for King, even if King isn’t entirely on board with the changes Musk has ushered in with the rebranding of Twitter.
