In fact, e-commerce website Flipkart has launched a new exchange program where the company is offering an opportunity to exchange unusable electronic items. That means the company will give you some discount in your order on giving such items.

Flipkart has started this program so that people can get rid of their discontinued devices and reduce e-waste. To dispose of discontinued devices, the company has negotiated with vendors who will dispose of the device properly. The company will determine the price of your old device after its inspection and you will get a discount on your order accordingly.

If the device can be repaired, the company will repair it or it will be recycled. If both these are not possible then the company will send it for disposal. Flipkart Senior Vice President and Head of New Business Adarsh ​​Menon said that India is the third largest generator of e-waste in the world (3.2 million tonnes in 2019). According to the MEITY policy paper, only 10 percent of waste is collected for recycling which is very low. We need to work more in this direction so that e-waste can be disposed of properly.

Adarsh ​​Menon further said that the company’s new exchange program will help people financially to switch from old to new devices and will also prove effective in saving the environment.
