Local residents living in Rameshwar Nagar Society of Godhra city raised a ruckus at the Municipal Office due to the lack of their basic facilities. Today, the women of Rameshwar Nagar Society and other societies located in Khadi Paliya area of Godhra city gathered and reached the Godhra Municipal Office to make a presentation and a large number of women who reached the Municipal Office reached the cabin of the Municipal Chief Officer. It was alleged by the women that the chief officer was leaving after giving extravagant answers to the women.
In addition, the women said that the situation in various societies in Khadi Paliya area of Godhra city has become dire due to the rains that fell two weeks ago. There is no rainwater drainage system causing foul-smelling water. The possibility of spreading disease due to foul-smelling water in the entire area has been fully realized. Underground sewage water is also emerging at many places. Due to which the situation is worse. On the other hand, it has been alleged by the women that even after calling the municipal president several times, he did not arrange for disposal.
Amita Bhatt, who lives in Rameshwar Nagar Society of Godhra city, said in conversation with Divya Bhaskar that, we are Godhra city ward no. 1 Khadi Paliya has come from Rameswar Nagar Society. For the last 20 to 25 years we have been fighting in the municipality, but still not disposing of the monsoon rain water in our area. Baremas discharges the rain water from all the surrounding societies into our society. Due to which our area has become so dirty. That we seem to live in a murky creek. Even before this we have presented to the district collector, but no one listens to our presentation.
This filth has spoiled our boring water and our boys have contracted cholera. For the last six months, I had called the president of the municipality and said that you were going to pass the tender at a cost of 52 lakhs and dispose of our society’s operations and water. What happened to him, when he told us that the tender has been filled, he made us feel like a fool. Due to which half a liter of water has filled our houses and when the women of our area went to meet the Chief Officer. Then the Chief Officer did not give us any response and kept pushing us away. The women made that accusation and gave a sarcastic reply that as you say, a little work is done.
When we called the president of Godhra. At that time they were also told that they will get the work done in three days, but the work has not been done yet and every time they leave by making small pits and draining the water. The street lights of our area are off for the last one year. Called 25 to 30 times, but still our lights are not turning on. When we talk to the president about all these issues, he also gives a rude reply and the elected representatives of our area do not even care about the problems of our area. No representative gives any response to them.
