The PGI 2.0 (Performance Grading Index) of the year 2021-22 has been declared on Friday by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. All states and their districts were evaluated on learning outcome and quality, achievements, infrastructure and facilities, fairness, governance process, effective classrooms, school safety and child protection, digital learning, and Gujarat scored 599 points out of 1000 in the declared results. Ranked 5th in the country. Gujarat, which was ranked third in 2018 and second in 2019, has dropped three places in four years to the 5th position in the country. Gujarat’s score has dropped this year. Last year Gujarat got 903 marks out of 1000 whereas this year it got only 599 marks ie a decrease of 304 marks. In the performing index, Gujarat is still lagging behind 4 states of the country. It is worth mentioning that the Performance Grading Index reviews schools and education systems on the basis of 1000 points under 70 different criteria. This index has been issued for the years 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022.

Students scored only 60 out of 240 marks in this area, as the students lag behind in understanding what the teachers are teaching and explaining to someone.
2 We are the strongest here
Teachers and students topped the rankings for fairness in education, as they came out on top with a mark of 227 out of 260.

There is no state in PGI’s Daksha (941-1000), Utkarsh (881-940), Ati-Uttam (821-880), Uttam (761-820), Prachesta-1 (701-760) categories. While Chandigarh, Punjab has been placed in Prachesta-2 (641-700) level. Gujarat, Kerala, Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu are in Prachesta-3 (581-640) category. Akanshi-2 (461-520) category has Assam, Nagaland, Bihar, Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Manipur, U.P. Akanshi-3 (401-460) has Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram.
