- 24 teams spent 16 hours in the field and started power supply in 123 villages of Santalpur-Radhanpur during the week.
In both Radhanpur and Santalpur talukas of Patan, a total of 24 teams were deployed to restore electricity supply to 123 villages due to storm Biparjoy, which caused blackout due to broken power poles and wires. After seven days of hard work of more than 16 hours a day, electricity supply has finally been restored in all the villages and about 50,000 houses have been lit.
Executive Engineer Rakesh Vasava and Warahi Sub Division Deputy Engineer Pragnesh Kharadi both expressed their views to Divyabhaskar about the day and night operation amid dangerous conditions.
The team reached the spot by removing the trees on the road
Executive Engineer Rakesh Vasava said that the head office officials along with 96 employees have set up a camp in Radhanpur and worked in the field to start power supply in both the talukas with 200 power poles and 170 broken wires.
They used to give foot packages in the afternoon. Teams would reach the villages from early morning, to reach the place, they would remove the trees lying in the middle of the road by themselves and reach the location.
Worked till midnight and completed a month’s work in a week
Varahi Deputy Engineer Prajnesh Kharadi said that first 11 Kv lines were repaired and the bent bridges were broken. If the bent bridges were broken, the new ones were started by supplying power to the transformer and starting the electricity in the villages. The teams stayed in the field till twelve o’clock in the night.
When they did not get food in the afternoon, they used to fill their stomachs with what they got in the food packets. If the repairing work of electricity pole and wire breakage in the villages is to be done without the help of the outside team as usual, it may take a month, but it has been completed in a week to remove the problems of the people.
