TV arrangement to keep children happy…
More than 3,000 people living in mud houses and huts are currently being evacuated to shelters in Porbandar district due to the forecast of Cyclone Biparjoy. Children of displaced families are also currently in shelters.
The district administration is making efforts to ensure that the children do not get bored and are happy, so that they get entertainment. The talk is about Multipurpose Cyclone Center in Gosa, where an attempt has been made to keep children happy by bringing in TV for children and airing educational programs along with entertainment and knowledge.
This program has also had a positive effect on the children not being afraid of the storm and keeping their minds positive during such times. Officials including district in-charge minister Kuvarji Bavlia and collector KD Lakhani applauded the work of the local coordinating staff at Bhakti Gosa. District Supply Officer Hiral Desai said that milk and biscuits have also been arranged for the children.
Imported goods from outside moved to a safe place through the port…
Adequate precautionary measures have been taken by Porbandar Gujarat Maritime Board ahead of Cyclone Biparjoy. Imported goods by ship by sea are parked in a safe place to prevent damage to the cargo.
Official sources at the port also said that vigilance has been maintained under the guidance of the government to ensure that various imported valuable goods are not affected by the storm. Steps have been taken for the security of goods at the jetty along with putting up signals from time to time by the port. The operation was carried out at the notified storage in Subhash Nagar here during the cyclone warning.
All the more than 4500 boats in Porbandar are also now secured and parked in proper places. Officials including district in-charge secretary Ranjith Kumar, collector KD Lakhani visited the jetty along with the port officer and also inspected the returned boats.
Police prepared against cyclone in Porbandar…
Cyclone Biparjoy has been forecast since and strong winds and rains are lashing Porbandar district. Since then, the police system of Porbandar district has been responsible for the safety of citizens in this disaster. As far as the Porbandar district police is concerned, the police are patrolling round the clock at various checkposts from Madhavpur to Miani along the coast of Porbandar, as well as on the coast where there are landing points, to ensure that citizens do not move around and to maintain their safety.
DySP Ritu Raba said that even at the shelters, police personnel are on duty in coordination with the local administration for arrangement and assistance. Even at Chopati in Porbandar, arrangements are being made in the service of the citizens. Under the guidance of SP Ravi Mohan Saini, the communication service has been well equipped in advance to help the citizens, especially the police to maintain communication in case of any situation related to the storm.
Apart from this, DySP Neelam Gauswami, Viral Dalwadi and Surjeet Mehdu and the team including PI, PSI, Head Constable, Police Constable, Home Guard are also doing day and night patrolling. The operation has been extended to two shifts. In addition to wireless in police stations, ham radios have also been installed at the SP office to maintain long distance communication.
Generators have also been placed in police stations in case power supply is affected. If a tree falls on the road or a power line breaks during patrolling, the police immediately informs the concerned control room and informs the concerned agency to rectify the situation. On the other hand, besides the Collector, SP and DDO, Forest, the teams of the system including NDRF, SDRF deployed from outside are also being coordinated to ensure the safety of the people in this situation.

In the wake of possible Cyclone Biparjoy impact in Gujarat State and especially Saurashtra Kutch, full preparations have been made by the PGVCL department in Porbandar district to meet the cyclone impact. About the preparations of the PGVCL department, Deputy Engineer NH Parmar said that full preparations have been made by the department to meet the impact of the cyclone. In which there are total 09 sub divisions in Porbandar division. In which there are 04 in Porbandar city and 05 in Porbandar rural. At present, the necessary equipments like poles, transformers etc. are present in 09 sub-division so that the power supply will not be interrupted and the power supply can be started immediately. It was further said that a total of 49 teams including 23 teams in the Porbandar city division and 26 teams in the rural division and a total of more than 200 employees in both the divisions are working for restoration by the PGVCL department following the impact of the cyclone. Also 28 contractor teams and more than 140 employees are involved.
In addition, Parmar said that due to the impact of the storm, 25 poles of 11 KV and 15 others fell in the district, a total of 40 poles fell. As a result, 21 poles have been erected immediately by the department. While restoration of 2 power transformers has been done. . If we talk about Jyotigram feeders, out of the total 73 feeders that were affected, 70 feeders have been restored. As far as the feeders in agriculture are concerned, out of total 207 feeders, 170 feeders and 20 feeders in urban areas have been restored.
At present, more than 1300 complaints have been registered so far due to the impact of the cyclone due to high winds and rain, out of which more than 600 complaints have been redressed. While said that Porbandar PGVCL department is fully equipped to deal with the impact of possible Cyclone Biparjoy by redressing the remaining grievances at the earliest.
Congress petitioned the director of GUVNL…
Before the storm Biparjoy blew, many feeders of Porbandar city and village panthak were closed and the power supply was frequently disrupted, a complaint letter was sent by Porbandar Congress to the director of GUVNL. When Kothari, Technical Director of Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. and Mehta, Additional Chief Engineer of PGVCL Corporate Office visited Porbandar, senior leaders of Porbandar Congress including Ramdev Modhwadia visited them and sent a letter of appeal and provided correct information about the serious power problem of Porbandar district.
Ramdev Modhwadia said that most of the agricultural feeders of Barda Panthak are closed for the last four days. Even though two months ago, the Congress submitted a written representation to the Power Minister, informing them to replace 146 km of dilapidated wires and other equipment, including replacement of shoes and other equipment, the system of Porbandar PGVCL has not woken up. The officer on the post of Deputy Engineer in Bagwadar is not present and junior engineers are not reachable despite their best efforts. Due to insufficient staff and inadequate equipment, electricity has become erratic. Due to lack of electricity, the motor of the water works of the rural parish cannot be started, so drinking water is not available for three days. The abodes of dumb creatures are empty and even these animals have no mercy from the power system.
Despite MLA Arjun Modhwadia’s submission to the Energy Minister in April, the power system remains dormant. Stating that, Modhwadia added that despite the instructions given to the MD of Power, no steps have been taken to do injustice to Porbandar. It was demanded that teams from other districts should also be called for repairs just as they were called for checking to catch electricity theft. Bagwadar PGVCL in E.S. 1969 is the personnel setup. Ramdev Modhwadia demanded that currently a natural calamity in the form of cyclone is sweeping towards Porbandar, but even in such a situation Deputy Engineer of Bagwadar PGVCL who has been given orders from November-2022.
