Within hours of the devastating Cyclone Biporjoy hitting the coast of Gujarat, Vadodara was hit by an average speed of 60 to 70 kmph. It started raining heavily along with the heavy storm. At around 7.30 pm, as soon as the heavy storm hit, there were incidents of trees, hoardings, power wires breaking in many areas of the city. Panic spread among the townspeople following heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms. Cyclone Vadodara hit the city at the time of returning home from work and businessmen stood in a safe place. Rain accompanied by a thunderstorm in the evening created havoc.

Order to close schools and colleges
All schools and colleges in Vadodara city and district will remain closed tomorrow due to the Biporjoy cyclone situation in Gujarat. Vadodara District Collector Atul Gore has ordered closure on 16-06-2023. As per Vadodara Collector’s order, closure of all schools and colleges has been announced, keeping in mind that MS University will be completely closed tomorrow.

There was silence in the markets too
The people standing on the road were frightened by the terrible storm. Markets in the city were also brought to a standstill following heavy storms and rains. Traders also closed the shutters of their shops to avoid the storm. As soon as the storm came at around 7.30 pm, the firemen of all the sub stations of Vadodara Fire Brigade were alerted and as soon as the call of falling trees started going to each place, on the other hand, the teams of the power company also reached the same place as soon as they received the call. The operation to start the disrupted power supply has started after reaching the areas.

However, no casualties have been reported yet in the heavy rains and thunderstorms that hit this evening, but leaves were pelted in slum areas and solar panels blown off in some areas. There were reports of power outages in several areas of the city following heavy storms and rains. Along with Vadodara city, the district also received reports of rain accompanied by thunderstorms. Cold weather followed heavy thunderstorms.
