Hindu religious festivals begin as Ashadha begins. Then at the beginning of the month, the Goro Vrat is celebrated with a unique faith by the little girls. Then such a unique Goro was celebrated at Jitpur village of Meghraj taluka.
In Jitpur village located in the hinterland of Meghraj and on the border of Rajasthan, on the new moon day of the month of Jeth, different grains are planted by filling a basket made of bamboo with soil. From Ashadha Sud Ekam, these grown grains are worshiped with incense, lamp, Naivedya. Vrat is celebrated by fasting during this Vrat.
This fast is celebrated on the day of Ashadha Sud Nom. On this day, little girls play the role of bride and groom at night. In the village, the bridegroom made by the girls is taken out and the marriage ceremony is performed by going round and round. A vigil is kept by the daughters throughout the night and early in the morning the goro grown in chhabdi is taken to the bank of the holy river and immersed in the holy water. Thus Goro Vrat is celebrated by girls in the rural areas of Aravalli with a unique custom.
