Deputy Executive Engineer of Zilla Panchayat and his folder were caught in ACB’s trap for accepting bribe of 15 lakhs. The ACB team presented the charge sheet in that case. The accused has released two other accused involved in this crime on bail by a bench of the reputed Gujarat High Court so that the present accused has filed a regular bail application for the first time in the special court of ACB, Valsad, Valsad to be released on parity (on the principle of equality) on 12 June 2023. Accepting the arguments of DGP Anil Tripathi regarding that application, Judge TV Ahuja of the Special Court of ACB in Valsad has passed the order rejecting the first regular bail application of the accused.

A contractor got work as a sub-contractor for the construction of a new bridge over the river under Valsad District Panchayat. In the year 2019-20, the contractor was subcontracted to the office of Deputy Executive Engineer, Panchayat Department, Roads and Buildings Department for the road bridge over the river in Valsad district. The Deputy Executive Engineer and Assistant Engineer of the Zilla Panchayat demanded a bribe of Rs.20 lakh for taking action to approve the final bill on completion of this work. The deal was fixed at 15 lakhs. As the sub-contractor did not want to pay bribe to the corrupt officers of Roads and Buildings Department of the District Panchayat, he filed a complaint against the corrupt officials of Valsad District Panchayat on ACB’s helpline. The Surat ACB team set up a bribery trap on 10 January 2023 after the complaint was received by the Surat ACB team.
