To prevent sea erosion in Nani Danti- Moti Danti village of Valsad taluka, which is located on the sea coast, the state government has invested Rs. A 1490 meter (one and a half km) long protection wall is going to be built based on the design prepared by an American company at a cost of 33 crore 65 lakh. Before its operation, Mukeshbhai Patel, the state level minister of the state’s water resources and water supply, forest and environment and climate change department. The site was inspected on Friday, July 7. Also interacted with the villagers.
About 13 thousand people live in 890 houses of Nani Danti and Moti Danti villages located on the sea shore of Valsad taluk and above the mouth of Ambika river. The estimated cultivable area of the village is 150 hectares. The main occupation of the village is fishing which is the livelihood of the locals. But due to sea tides and high wind speed, high waves continuously hit the coastal land during high tides causing heavy damage to people’s homes and property. So after getting approval of CRZ Rs. A budget of 3365.07 lakhs has been sanctioned. Before the work started, the state minister Mukeshbhai Patel visited both the villages on Friday and discussed with the villagers.
On this occasion, the minister said that a protection wall of stones of 2 to 3 tons was made to prevent the sea tide water from entering the village, but after some time due to the lapping of the tidal waves, the stones came out and the water rushed into the village from below. Such a protection wall has a lifespan of 5 to 6 years so there is no point in building it. So now for the first time in Gujarat based on the design prepared by an American engineer an armor layer of large stones will be made in front of the fabric seat using piles and a protection wall will be made which will last for 50 years so that the next generation will not face any problem. A protection wall modeled after Goa will be built for the first time in Gujarat at Nani Danti Doti Danti village in Valsad. Apart from the fact that only the stones for the protection wall will be from India, all other materials will also come from America. So that strong work will be done, no one will have any problem in the future.
Meanwhile Valsad MLA Bharatbhai Patel praised the patience of the villagers and assured them that the protection wall built on the basis of American design will end all your problems. For the work of this protection wall, currently Rs. 3365.07 lakhs have been sanctioned but still more money will be allocated. The minister inspected the sea shore and also got detailed information from the officials about where the protection wall will be built.
District Collector Kshipra Agre, District Development Officer Manish Gurwani, South Division Deputy Conservator of Forest Rushiraj Puwar, Damanganga Circle Superintending Engineer SC Patel, Executive Engineer MM Gavit, Deputy Executive Engineer HK Patel, Valsad Taluka Mamlatdar Tejal Patel, Village Sarpanch Amratbhai along with a large number of villagers were present.
Construction of protection wall will also develop as a tourist destination
Explaining the features of this protection wall, engineer Moulin Choksi said that the protection wall designed by an American company has been built for the first time in Goa in the country. Which is zig-zag shaped. which absorbs the waves of the ocean. The pile-based protection wall will be 4 meters underground and 6 meters above the ground. So that currently the water entering the village from the lower part of the stone will stop, along with the well and lake water will also stop getting salty and the erosion of the sea shore will also stop. A 6 meter wide RCC road will be built over this protection wall. Tourists can visit it as a tourist destination.
The minister also assured the locals about employment through shrimp and mangroves
Minister Mukesh Patel raised the issue of exploitation of the fishermen who cook shrimp and said that the shrimp traders and factory owners make rings and give them only 250 if the price is Rs.400. Due to which fishermen are exploited. A team will be formed to break this ring. Through which locals will also get employment. Regarding mangrove plantation to prevent sea erosion, Minister Mukeshbhai Patel said that a society will be formed for mangrove plantation, which will provide employment to the locals. Sea erosion will also stop.
