- In Bedla, near Rajkot, officials and sarpanch filled their houses by setting up 63 dummy beneficiaries.
- Under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, the real beneficiaries have been waiting and have been fed up again and again
Many government schemes turn out to be a boon to the officials and officials instead of being a boon to the real beneficiaries. The needy are waiting for benefits and the middlemen are getting rich. Another such scam took place in Bedla village of Rajkot taluka. Under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, 120 spray pumps were allotted in Bedla village. It was believed that the pump would reach the beneficiaries soon after it landed at the house of Motantamatha in Bedla.
The report was prepared and reached the district village development agency and the district panchayat and it showed the names of all 120 beneficiaries and it was shown that spray pumps were given to all of them. Even after a long time, the beneficiaries were not getting the spray pumps. It was found that the spray pump was faulty. When this matter reached Divya Bhaskar, Bhaskar’s team investigated and a huge scam was revealed. Bedla sarpanch Ajay Sorani and nodal officer Ramesh had several dummy names in the list sent to the system. Not only this, there was a blast that the spray pump was allocated in the name of the deceased. Out of 120 spray pumps only 57 people were given spray pumps rest 63 names were dummy.
The list stated that spray pump was given to Vihabhai Nathabhai Kagdia living in Bedla in the month of April whereas the reality was that Vihabhai Kagdia died on December 22, 2022. The sarpanch and nodal officer showed the allotment of spray pumps in the name of the deceased. Not only this, checking the list of other names of the beneficiaries revealed several errors. Many names including Lata Dhanwania, Neetu, Leela Dhanwania, Dayaben were shown as the beneficiaries and when the matter was investigated, it was revealed that no such person was living in the village. Thus scammers showed dummy names. Apart from this, allocation of spray pumps has been shown in the name of people who do not have even one Vigho of land.
He was shown as the beneficiary of the pump despite having no land. To complete the list of 120 beneficiaries, the scammers showed more than one pump allotment of the same family and hastily wrote the name of the same person more than once. Small farmers and genuine beneficiaries living in Bedla village were deprived of spray pumps, but government documents show that they have been allocated. After this scam came to light, there were instructions to take strict action against those responsible and police complaint in this matter in the next few days.
Everything has been done by the nodal officer, I am not aware, Badla’s sarpanch Sorani’s defense
Divya Bhaskar contacted Bedla sarpanch Ajay Sorani regarding the scam, he said that all the allotment of spray pumps has been done under the supervision of the nodal officer Ramesh. Beneficiary register also remained with Ramesh, he himself is unaware of who he gave the pumps to and whose names he named.
Sarpanchs have also scammed other schemes with spray pumps : Zilla Panchayat Pramukh
Rajkot District Panchayat President Bhupat Bodar said that 120 spray pumps were allocated under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana in Bedla, out of which only 57 people have received the pumps. An investigation is being conducted in this matter, and evidence of fraud in other schemes besides the spray pump has also been found and an investigation will be started in that direction as well.
