Cases of newborn babies being abandoned to die are on the rise and such incidents have made everyone think. A total of 15 newborn babies-fetuses were abandoned in Surat this year i.e. 2022. Out of which 14 have died while only one is alive. In all these incidents, it has also come to light that newborns were put to death by minors to hide their sins.

In the last one year, 14 newborn babies-fetuses were found dead in the city. A few days ago, a 15-year-old girl gave birth to a child and threw it down from the first floor of the house. While a dead child was found in a garbage dump in Limbayat. 14 newborn dead babies-foetus, maximum dead bodies of 4 newborn babies have been found in Pandesara police area. Besides, one body of a newborn baby was found in Limbayat, Varachha and Khatodara in Babbe and Eighth-Sachin-Puna-Umra police area.

The parents left the child on the cable bridge
A newborn baby was found abandoned on a cable bridge at Adajan in Surat. A pedestrian noticed the child and informed the police. Adajan Police has shifted such a child to civil hospital for treatment on the spot, on the other hand, they have registered a case and started investigation in this whole matter. Limbayat Ganesh Nagar-1 On the road leading from Kanthi Maharaj to Ram Mandir, some unknown person wrapped the body of a newborn baby girl in a paper in a garbage heap near the divider and ran away. On hearing that the body of a newborn baby girl was in the garbage pile, people gathered in a crowd and a security guard who was passing by while recording a video on his mobile phone, informed the police. With the help of 108 ambulance, the police shifted the girl’s body to the Smear hospital and took action.

A body of a newborn baby was dumped by a stranger among the wreckage of a wrecked car lying in a pile of garbage on the road near Pandesara Kailas Nagar. The people around came to know after seeing someone who had gone to dump the garbage. So people immediately informed 108 ambulance with the hope that the newborn child is alive and shifted the newborn to the civil hospital. However, the doctor on duty declared him brought dead. The police conducted a post-mortem examination to find out the exact cause of the child’s death. In which the weight of the child was 1.6 kg and injection marks were found on both hands of the newborn who was abandoned with clipping on the diaper and umbilical cord.

If the child dies while leaving the child, the punishment is seven years
Yashwant Singh Vala (Advocate) said, the Indian Penal Code provides that a child below 12 years of age. One who is born and is abandoned by his parents has a provision of seven years. There is a specific provision in the law that even if a woman who is pregnant and kills her unborn child is guilty of culpable homicide. In which there is a provision of punishment of seven years.
If the child is killed in the womb, the punishment is two years
Another specific provision is that if a stillborn child is born. There is also a provision of two years of punishment in cases where one conceals one’s birth without informing anyone. In such a case, there is a provision of hundred percent Indian Penal Code, according to which such parents abandon their child, hundred percent Indian Penal Court can take legal action according to that provision. As far as I am concerned the police should take such cases which are coming up seriously.
