A college girl sitting on the back of the scooter died while her scooter collided with the wall of the bridge on Sunday afternoon on the Mawdi overbridge in the city while she sustained minor injuries. Both were going to watch a movie when the accident happened.
Krishi Maheshbhai Kakadia (age 18) of Tirupati Balajipark on Gondal Road and Khushiba Vijaysinh Rana (age 17) of Maheshwarinagar on Hari Ghwa Road had gone to watch a movie on a scooter on Sunday afternoon. When the duo reached the Mavdi overbridge on the 150-feet ring road, the scooter driver Khushiba Rana lost control for some reason and the scooter crashed into the wall of the bridge.
Both were easily thrown from the scooter in the accident. After the incident, crowds of people gathered and both the girls were shifted to the hospital. Of which a severely injured agricultural cucumber died during the short course of treatment. A team including Jamadar Ghanshyam Singh of Malvianagar police station rushed to the news of the incident.
Police sources said that both were going on an electric scooter. Preliminary investigation revealed that the scooter slipped and hit the wall of the bridge as the road was wet due to rain. Krishi Kakadia passed class 12 and got admission in a college in Ahmedabad. The death of the young daughter sent shockwaves through the Kakdia family.
