Gujarat has already received significant rainfall even before the completion of the Ashad month. Even now Meghmeher is still prevailing across the state. After rains in more than 70 talukas yesterday, scattered rains are predicted in Saurashtra, Kutch, Central and South Gujarat today. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain in the state from January 16.

Roads were flooded in Amreli within two hours
Amreli city did not receive even a sprinkle of rain during the day on Wednesday. But, at 4 o’clock there was a sudden change in the atmosphere. Between 4 and 6 o’clock, three inches of rain fell in the city, and the areas including Rajkamal Chowk, Forward Circle, Central Point were seen to be knee-deep in water.

Water revenue in Navsari’s Juj and Kalia Dams
Due to the rains in Navsari district and in the uplands, water is flowing into Jooj and Kelya Dam, the lifeblood of the district. The Kelia Dam in Vansda taluk of the district is 65 percent full. A total of more than 17 villages of Chikhli and Vansda talukas are supplied with water for drinking and irrigation purposes from Kelia Dam. At that time, the farmers are seeing a happy atmosphere due to continuous water inflow in the dam and the possibility of filling the dam before time is also visible.

What did the weather department say?
The Meteorological Department has predicted scattered rain in the state for the next 4 to 5 days. Normal rain is predicted in South Gujarat today. Also, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Surat, Valsad, Navsari, Tapi, Dang, normal rain in Saurashtra-Kutch. Normal rain is predicted in Amreli, Bhavnagar, Botad, Rajkot. The intensity of rain will increase again in the state after the next date of July 16. Rain troughs and cyclonic circulations will activate to bring rain again. Heavy rain is predicted on 16, 17, 18 and 19 July. Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar are also likely to receive good rain after July 16. 60 percent of the season’s rainfall has already been recorded across Gujarat. While Saurashtra and Kutch have received 86 percent of the season’s rainfall.
