In Salabatpura, 9 years ago, the accused, who ran away with a loan of 17.94 lakhs from a merchant, was caught by the police while coming to meet his wife in Varachhani Podar Arcade. Eco cell handed over the accused to Salabatpura police who was running away by changing his address frequently in Bhavnagar, Kamrej and Bardoli.

Sanjay Babubhai Chauhan, a native of Dared village in Bhavnagar and living in Sreeji Avenue in Vavagam near Kamrej in Surat, 9 years ago, received Rs. 17.94 lakhs worth of goods were bought, after which these goods were sold again and again and he closed his shop and ran away. Salabatpura police registered a case regarding the incident.

An arrest warrant under CrPC-70 was also issued against this accused. Meanwhile, the Echo Cell team was trying to catch Sanjay Chauhan for the last six months. Sanjay used to live in his native Dared village, at his father-in-law’s house in Kamrej and rented his own house in Bardoli, besides driving rickshaws for a living. His wife worked in a mobile shop in Podar Arcade in Surat. On receiving information that Sanjay was coming to meet his wife, the police set up a watch and caught Sanjay.

The accused called his wife and was traced
The police first set a watch on Sanjay’s wife. In the ST bus in which this woman was going to Bardoli, the Eco Cell team also chased her. He lived in a flat in Bardoli, but Sanjay was not found when the woman left. Meanwhile, Sanjay called his wife and asked her to meet him. As soon as the police came to know about this, the police set up a watch and arrested Sanjay.
