During Biparjoy Cyclone calamity, from 12th to 17th June which was the likely time of delivery of pregnant sisters, out of 176 pregnant women of the district, a total of 140 sisters were shifted to various government hospitals for delivery. Out of them 107 sisters were delivered safely. Dr. Chief District Health Officer said that the health institution has done good work even in the difficult times of disaster. Nilesh Rathore said. While those affected have been evacuated following the impact of the storm, a health team is visiting the site to check on the health of the pregnant sisters.
707 women gave birth to babies in 72 hours
The impact of ‘Biparjoy’ cyclone was seen in Gujarat for more than 72 hours. Meanwhile, among those rescued by the system, 1,152 pregnant women are also included. Out of which 707 women gave birth in hospitals and health centers during the storm. In this matter, the Gujarat government informed that 302 government vehicles and 202 ambulances were deployed to ensure that there is no problem in the delivery of children. Medical staff were present in this ambulance, who were engaged in the care of pregnant women day and night.

Regarding this, the Superintendent of Rajkot Padmakunwarba Hospital Dr. According to Nutan, there were 12 deliveries last June 14, of which 6 were normal and 6 were cesarean deliveries. A total of 13 deliveries were made on 15th. In which there were 7 normal and 6 caesarean deliveries. While on 16th, 5 normal and 6 caesarean deliveries, a total of 11 children have been reported. While on June 17, out of 9 deliveries, 6 normal and 3 cesarean deliveries, thus 45 babies have been delivered in 96 hours. Mothers and children will be safely transported home by Khilakhilat vans after the storm situation normalizes. All mothers and children are safe now.
All the facilities were kept ready in case of storm
Chief District Health Officer Dr. Nilesh Rathore said that the pregnant women in the shelters of various talukas of Rajkot like Jamkandorana, Dhoraji, Upleta, Jasdan, Jetpur, Gondal, Lodhika, Kotdasangani are being examined. He is provided health related services including nutritious food, medicine by the district administration. Ambulance, doctor and all necessary equipment facilities have been kept ready to take the pregnant women to the hospital if there is an immediate need in this storm situation.

He further said that medicine, team of expert doctors and all equipments have been deployed at primary health center, health and wellness center, community health center as well as hospitals to serve these pregnant women and others. Among pregnant women, any pregnant woman who is close to her due date is also kept in the hospital. Nutritional food and medicines are provided in this hospital on time. They are also examined by doctors from time to time.
