Cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ remained away from Jamnagar district. But the city and the district could not stay away from the impact of the storm. Jamnagar city and district have been experiencing torrential rain since yesterday due to the storm which has continued today. Due to strong winds blowing along with the rains, power poles and trees fell down in many places causing power outages. The power company is currently working on a war footing to restore the power supply.

1255 power poles damaged due to high winds and rain
Jamnagar district has suffered heavy losses due to heavy winds and rain since yesterday. 958 feeders, 1255 power poles and 40 transformers of PGVCL have been damaged due to the impact of ‘Biparjoy’ in Jamnagar district. Operation on war footing has been carried out by the power company to restore power supply. So far 414 feeders and 221 power poles have been repaired. Electricity supply has been restored in 367 villages of Jamnagar district. While the power supply has been stopped in 226 villages as part of security and safety. So that there is no loss or loss of life. PGVCL teams are working continuously at the remaining places where power interruption has occurred. At present 119 teams of PGVCL are working in Jamnagar district.

Fire brigade rescued 5 people trapped in the house
In Jamnagar city this morning, a house collapsed in Setawad area of ​​the city due to strong wind and heavy rain. The debris of which fell on the stairs of the adjacent building and traffic was stopped. So the Jamnagar Fire Brigade team reached the spot, found 2 men and three women trapped in the house and pulled out five people safely.

Markets remained closed due to rain
