A Public Interest Litigation was filed in the Gujarat High Court by Darshanbhai Arora through Advocate Dharmesh Gurjar regarding illegal constructions on public space within the limits of Anand Municipality and permission being given by the members of the Municipality. In which the High Court has disposed of the application by ordering an investigation to the Anand District Collector.

Illegal construction at the sites of toilets
The petitioner came to know through various RTI applications that public spaces are being constructed by Anand Municipality by giving illegal allotment. The petitioner said that for the past few years, through the chief officer of Anand Municipality, officials and corporators, illegal construction permits have been issued in public places by writing ‘at your cost and risk’. Illegal constructions have taken place in public parks, toilets.

Robbery worth crores of rupees
The petitioner sought the court to issue a writ of limitation. Along with this, a CBI inquiry was also demanded. The petitioner told the court that in this case crores of rupees of ordinary people are being looted.
