The Bharat Mala project has been undertaken by the government to link important cities in the country starting from Gujarat to the North Eastern states by road. The road also passes through Surat, Navsari, Gandhinagar, Banaskantha etc. districts of Gujarat under the Bharatmala project.

The government has to acquire the land of the farmers to build the road. In other states under the project including Gujarat, many farmers are not ready to give their fertile land, some farmers have also alleged that land acquisition is not done properly and proper compensation is not provided. Farmers’ voices have been heard earlier from Dahod and Navsari in Gujarat. Today, more than 61 farmers have reached the High Court in an application made under the Tharad-Ahmedabad Expressway Project of this project.

In this application, it is mentioned that the land of the farmers falls in the prime agricultural land area. Which is very fertile. Farmers do not want to sell this fertile land. The High Court has made the State Government, National Highway Authority of India and the District Collector parties to this issue. The hearing will be held on the issue in the next day.
