In Ahmedabad, water borne diseases are also increasing in monsoon along with mosquito borne diseases. Diarrhea and typhoid cases have increased in the city. 773 cases of diarrhea vomiting and 325 cases of typhoid were reported in the last 23 days. While there are 136 cases of jaundice. 6 cases of cholera have been reported. Among mosquito-borne diseases, 73 cases of dengue and 37 cases of malaria have been reported. Intensive checking is being done in various areas by the Health Department of AMC to prevent mosquito-borne disease. AMC has ‘sealed’ Sarvodaya Pump Private Limited in India Colony area after finding breeding of mosquitoes during checking. Health department has checked a total of 520 units in the city and issued notices to 335 units and Rs. A fine of 10.38 lakhs has been recovered.

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation Health Department Head Dr. Bhavin Solanki said that there is a possibility of mosquito-borne epidemics increasing during the monsoon season due to which awareness programs and fogging operations are being carried out by the health department. Adequate laboratory equipment and drug arrangements have been made available in each Urban Health Center and Community Health Center of the Principal Corporation. 73 cases of dengue and 37 cases of malaria have been reported. Checking is carried out at corporation properties and schools and educational institutions etc

Waterborne diseases have also increased in Ahmedabad city in the last 23 days.During the rainy season, mixing of drinking water and sewage has led to an increase in cases of diarrhea, vomiting and typhoid among waterborne diseases. A trigger drive and awareness program has been launched by the health department to prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases during the rainy season. Action is being taken wherever mosquito breeding is found by checking educational institutions, construction sites, commercial units and residential areas of the city. Fogging and drug spraying are being done at various places in the city to prevent the epidemic.

Units found breeding mosquitoes have been fined from Rs.5,000 to Rs.60,000. Also organized awareness program in residential areas like flats- societies and chalis covering 121 societies and chalis. Health department also organized program in 111 schools. Muni in the coming days. Intensive checking will be done to prevent mosquito infestation. Penalties have been imposed on places including Sunrise Mall in Thaltej, Chinubhai Tower on Ashram Road, Gokul Petrol Pump in Lambha, Supernova Mall in Nikol.
