Surat Crime Branch busted a notorious Irani gang
The Surat Crime Branch team has nabbed 4 accused of the notorious Irani gang, which has committed more than 100 crimes across the state. The arrested Irani gang accused used to target elderly people in different districts of Surat and Gujarat by taking stolen bikes from Maharashtra state and impersonating themselves as police, removing gold ornaments and fleeing. As many as 22 crimes have been solved in the police investigation.
15.96 lakhs worth was captured
While the staff of Surat Crime Branch was on patrol, on the basis of a tip-off, Alia alias Ali Afsar Syed, Mohmand alias Sanga Zakir Syed, Gaji Rafiq Jafri and Jafar Malik Syed, who had committed more than 100 crimes of the notorious Irani gang, were caught from the four-lane road leading to Delhi Gate. The police seized various pieces of jewelry worth 13.26 lakhs, two sports bikes, a moped and a mobile phone worth a total of 15.96 lakhs from the accused.

Chain snatching is carried out by targeting such elderly women and men on sport bikes at different places in Tasurat city by putting jewelry in handkerchiefs and falsely identifying them as policemen. The gold ornaments were removed and put in a handkerchief and the murder took place. Saying this, they used to take off the gold ornaments.
22 crimes were solved
Police investigation revealed that about 6 months ago Alia Afsar bought two stolen sports bikes from Maharashtra and took those sports bikes along with his co-accused Sanga, Ghazi, Hassan from Ambevali Thane to Valsad, Surat, Anand, Ahmedabad, Sabarkantha, Nadiad etc. Crimes are being committed in cities by targeting old people and taking off their gold ornaments by giving the identity of duplicate policemen. In addition, the accused Jafar Malik gave the accused rooms on rent at Ahmedabad, Juhapura and Bharuch and told them the right to commit crime in the surrounding cities on a bike from there. In addition, 22 crimes have been solved in Vapi, Ahmedabad, Kamrej, Utran, Vadodara, Himatnagar, Nadiad, Mehsana etc. in the police investigation.

DCP Rupal Solanki said that the four arrested accused are very habitual accused. In which as many as 44 crimes including Makoka were registered against the accused Alia alias Ali Afsar Syed, in which most of the crimes are robbery. Another accused Mohmand alias Sanga Zakir Syed has also been booked against 19 offenses including Makoka. The third accused Gaji Rafiq Jafri has been arrested in 17 crimes earlier while the fourth accused Jafar Malik Syed has been arrested in 15 crimes earlier.
What was the mode operand
In the police investigation, the accused hired rooms at Ahmedabad and Bharuch, took stolen bikes from Mumbai and targeted such old women and men at Surat, Ahmedabad, Valsad, Navsari, Bharuch, Gandhinagar, Sabarkantha and identified themselves as police. Snatchig has the modus operandi of stealing gold ornaments worn by old women by asking one of their companions to take off the gold ornaments, keeping them in a handkerchief and returning them to the old woman in confidence, keeping them in a handkerchief and keeping a watchful eye on them.
Duplicate police identity given
In addition to this, more than 20 places in Ahmedabad city and more than 10 places at Bhopal, Sanand, Dholka, more than 10 places at Anand, Vidhyanagar, Kheda, Nadiad and 10 places at Sabarkatha and Mehsana in Gandhinagar in last 6 months. It has been revealed that gold jewelery has been stolen with this kind of modus operandi by giving the identity of duplicate policemen at more than one place. The Surat Crime Branch team has conducted further investigation in this matter.
