Jamnagar city has received a good amount of rain, due to this rainwater inundation there is a possibility of contamination of drinking water sources. Due to this contaminated water there is a possibility of water borne diseases like typhoid, jaundice, diarrhea-vomiting etc. Hence the public of the city is appealed to use only chlorinated water for drinking. Or use boiled water for drinking.
Due to water logging in this season, the possibility of mosquito breeding has increased. An increase in mosquito density increases the chances of cases of mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue and chikungunya.
Mosquito borne diseases can be avoided if a few precautions are taken by the city dwellers as mentioned below to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes.
Keep all containers filled with water covered with airtight lids, clean water tanks, vases, bird cages, cooler fridge trays etc. once a week. Maintain cleanliness in Agasi, Chhajja, parking lot, cellar in such a way that rain water does not get filled in monsoon. In monsoons, dispose of all such items such as tires, empty pots or roof-top bins and other debris that do not get inundated with rainwater.
Every Sunday morning at 10.00 hours take 10.00 minutes to check all the water containers, if mosquito pores are found in them, empty, clean, dry the containers and reuse them. Thus, devoting 10.00 minutes every Sunday can prevent dengue, chikungunya, malaria.
