Adjudicating Officer and Resident Additional Collector of Gandhinagar District, Gandhinagar has fined the product owners in total 8 cases of samples declared sub standard or misbranded among the cases under Food Safety and Standards Act 2006.
Under this action, some products including Abad Desi Ghee, Ganesha Food Products’ Chocolate Tutifuti Patra Bhoomi Cow Ghee, Sai Products, Aastha Super Market’s Organic Jaggery, Frozen City Drink, Satvam Rock Salt Powder and Krishna Signature Sweet were found to be substandard or misbranded. Different penalties have been imposed in each case under Sections 51 and 52 of the Food Safety and Standards Act-2006, considering the potential profit to be made to the product owners and the seriousness of the offence.
Accordingly, a fine of four lakh ninety thousand has been imposed in this case as the sample of product Abad Desi Ghee was declared substandard, two lakh twenty five thousand as the sample of Ganesha Food Products chocolate tutifuti potra was declared substandard and two lakh in the case of ‘Bhoomi Guy’s Ghee’. Besides this, a fine has been imposed under section 52 for the misbranded product.
In which in case of Sai products Rs. 1,25,000, Aastha Super Market has been fined Rs 1.90 lakh in case of organic jaggery and two lakh thirty five thousand in case of satvam rock salt powder. Apart from this, the sample of Frozen City drink is found to be sub-standard and misbranded in this case and a fine of three lakh rupees under section 51 and 52 and one lakh twenty-five thousand rupees has been imposed under section 50 and 52 of the Food Safety and Standard Act 2006 in this case, while the sample of dairy based dessert of Krishna Signature Sweet has been declared misbranded.
