A 26-year-old woman working in PGVCL has filed a complaint at Rajkot Women’s Police Station regarding physical and mental torture against her husband, mother-in-law and Nanand. The wife alleges that the husband has a habit of drinking alcohol and does not talk equally with the wife and her family and Nanand and the mother-in-law harass my husband in housework and minor matters and cause physical and mental torture between the husband and wife.

Complained of mental torture
The complainant has stated in the complaint that I have been staying at my mother’s house for the last one month. Currently working in PGVCL at Mundra (Government). I got married on 17-04-2022 with Mayur, son of Jeevanbhai Ramjibhai living in Rajkot as per the customs of our caste. After marriage, I lived with my mother-in-law and Nanand in the Sayunkat family. After marriage I went to South for ten days for honeymoon with my husband. Later I was staying with my in-laws. My husband stayed together for fifteen days after marriage.

My mother-in-law Jyotsanaben Jeevanbhai and my Nanand Madhviben used to physically and mentally torture me from time to time regarding work, and later my mother-in-law attacked my husband and my husband quarreled with me believing his mother to be true and when He used to come home when monthly off came in his company.

Even if I would ask my husband to go out to bars, my husband would come with me along with the family and later go to his job, after which the housework would start again. Later I was transferred to PGVCL at Mundra and stayed with my husband in his quarters. Then my mother-in-law used to call my husband and scold about me so that my husband used to quarrel with me. Later, my father-in-law’s health would deteriorate. My husband and I used to commute to Rajkot.

The husband had bad drinking habits
My father-in-law was admitted to Vadodara due to his deteriorating health and there I was in the hospital with my husband and later on. My father-in-law passed away on 04-05-2023. My husband didn’t talk to me except for work and stopped calling me and my husband never called my family either. Later, our community elders tried to explain my husband and in-laws many times but my in-laws did not understand and the gold and silver jewelery given to me in my work which is in my locker and my husband also had a habit of drinking alcohol.

Demanded rupees three lakhs for divorce
After this, I asked my husband for a divorce of Rs three lakh towards our wedding expenses and other expenses. So my husband and mother-in-law were not ready to accept my request. So today I am filing a complaint against my husband Mayur Jeevan Kacha, mother-in-law Jyotsanaben Jeevan Kacha and Nanand Madhviben Kacha for quarreling over housework and causing mental and physical torture. Based on this, the police have registered a complaint and taken action.
