With the onset of monsoon, heavy rains have lashed the state. There has been heavy rain in Saurashtra-Kutch and South Gujarat. Since the monsoon set in on June 25, it has been raining continuously. As the first round is not yet completed, the second round will begin. Due to the heavy rains, the rivers overflowed and most of the dams also overflowed.

A thunderous entry of rain into Diamondnagari
Surat city had a thunderous entry in the early morning. Heavy rains started in areas including Pal, Adajan, Rander, Ring Road Vesu Varachha. According to the forecast made by the Meteorological Department, rainy weather has occurred today. Surat city witnessed universal rainfall. After noon yesterday, the Surtis felt the shock. It started raining from early morning today. Rainy weather with lightning flashed across the city. As soon as it rains, the atmosphere has also cooled down. People leaving home for work were seen carrying raincoats and umbrellas.
Most of the dams also overflow in the first rain
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in the state for the next five days. It will rain all over the state. Especially on July 7 and 8, there will be heavy to very heavy rains in the state. Coastal areas of South Gujarat and Saurashtra will receive extremely heavy rains. On July 5 and 6, two days of normal rain will be followed by heavy rain in the state.
Two days of heavy to very heavy rain forecast
Meteorological department director Manorama Mohti said that the state will receive rain for the next five days, of which the first two days will be normal. But after that, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in the entire state, there will be heavy rains in the districts of Gujarat and Saurashtra. Light to moderate rains will occur across the state along with Indian excess heavy rains at many places. Ahmedabad city will also experience heavy rains on July 7 and 8. There will be heavy rain in areas including Valsad, Daman, Dadra-Nagar Haveli, Gir Somnath, Morbi, Dang, Navsari.
The state’s water bodies improved in June
Gujarat has received a quarter of 10 inches (27.72%) of rain in June against the season’s average of 35 inches. This rainfall is the fifth wettest June on record since 190. The highest June rainfall in 122 years was 12 inches in 1980. While the lowest rainfall of only 1.7 mm was recorded in 1923. On the other hand, due to good rains, 97966 crore liters of water has been stored in reservoirs in a month. The condition of the state’s reservoirs has improved in June due to the banging start of the monsoon following Cyclone Biparjoy. Out of the 251 talukas of the state, 112 talukas have received more than 25% of the season’s rainfall.
