In Gujarat, from July 1, the process from registration of all vehicles to number allotment will be done from the showroom. So, immediately after paying the fee and tax, the number plate will also be attached to the vehicle. Vadodara RTO has planned to give training to dealers. The first phase of training has been completed and training will be conducted in phases in the coming days.
Numbers of fully built vehicles available from dealer: J. K. Patel
Giving information about this, Vadodara RTO J. K. Patel said that according to the recent amendment in the Motor Vehicle Act, the vehicles will be allotted from the dealer. Earlier, verification and approval was done from RTO itself and number allotment was done from RTO. From now on the number of fully built vehicles will be allocated immediately after paying the vehicle fees and taxes from the dealer level itself.

They further said that earlier number allocation was done from RTO, which will now be allocated from dealers level itself, so that the process of number allocation will be faster. Also fully built vehicle owners will be exempted from coming to RTO office. After allotment of number from dealer level, verification of documents from RTO and payment of fee and tax as per law or not will be done.

Organization of training for dealers
They added that the first training has been completed for them as the process of number allotment will be done from the dealer level. Phased training will be organized in the coming days.
Decentralized the process
Earlier, the government had started the system of getting the number plates fitted to the dealers after getting the delivery of the vehicle and after the RTO registration. The state government has now decentralized the entire process and authorized the dealers for the number allotment process as well.

No need to wait for selected number either
After any person buys a vehicle, the documents of the new vehicle are sent online to the RTO office for registration, after verification, the RTO office disposes of it and allocates a number. The vehicle dealer sends a list of number plates to the number plate company to prepare the HSRP of this number. Once the number plate is ready, the vehicle owner is notified, the entire process takes about a week. If there are selected numbers it takes more time but now there is no need to wait for this too.

Dealers list will show for the selected number
If the customer has any preference for any number other than the number allotted in the auction for the special selection number, those dealers will be able to see the number in the computer system itself. He will get that number after paying the required fee. While the non-selected numbers will be obtained by the dealers through the process of randomization.
