A fire broke out at a show room named Rajkamal Furniture near Anand Bangla Chowk in the city on Thursday around 11 am. The fire in the show room soon took on a ferocious form and the godown also broke out.

After the fire broke out due to a spark while working in the godown, the employees tried to douse the fire with fire safety equipment, but in no time the fire took a severe form and both the show room and the godown were engulfed in flames. At this time, about 60 workers in the show room and godown immediately left. The fire brigade rushed to the spot along with the fire fighters on being informed about the fire incident. The fire brigade personnel continuously sprayed water and foam.

More than ten fighters of the fire brigade were rushed to the spot one after the other to control the fierce fire. The firemen controlled the fire by using water and foam for more than 5 hours. Due to fire, timber, foam chemicals, furniture, vehicles and goods worth lakhs were destroyed in the show room and godown.
