The State Meteorological Department has issued a storm forecast for coastal districts including Valsad district from June 7 to June 11. As part of vigilance, the Valsad district horticulture officer has alerted the farmers who are not working on the mango crop in the district. In which it has been instructed to remove the prepared fruits and vegetables and to move the prepared farm produce to a safe place, to store the horticultural crops in the production stage at a safe place. In Valsad district, there is a lot of concern among the farmers who are not caring for the mango crop due to the possible impact of the cyclone.
According to the weather forecast, Horticulture farmers of Valsad district are urged to take necessary precautionary measures in view of unseasonal rain and storm forecast from 7th June 2023 to 11th June 2023. To remove prepared fruits and vegetables and to move the prepared farm produce to a safe place, to store the horticultural crops in the production stage in a safe place, to avoid watering the horticultural crops. To support plantain, papaya and suitable fruits and to spread soil around the trunk of the tree and not to spray chemical and organic fertilizers or hormones. Apart from this, the farmers have been told in a press release by Valsad District Deputy Director of Horticulture to take the steps mentioned by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ambheti, Kaprada and Navsari Agricultural University.
