- 4740 children took admission against the target of 3869 children: Only 546 children took admission in St.1
The new education policy has been implemented from the ongoing academic session 2023-24. According to which only children who have completed 6 years of age have been made a rule for admission to class 1. In Bhavnagar city-taluka, 4740 children have taken admission in Balwatika against the target of 3869 children. That is, 871 more children have taken admission in municipal schools of the city. In other words, there has been an increase of 22.51 percent in percentage from the total target. However, only 546 children have taken admission in class 1 this year. These figures are of Bhavnagar Corporation and Taluka Primary School.
The education department is claiming that the foundation of students in Bal Vatika is strengthened. Be that as it may, 5-year-old children are forced to do the third year of kindergarten due to this new rule. On the other hand, the classes in St. 1 have remained empty. Children admitted to Balwatika will still be taught the pre-school course this year as well. For this, text books will also be provided to children in government and grant-in-aid schools. However, until last year, children who completed five years were admitted in class 1. From the current year, children who have completed six years have made a rule for admission to class 1. In which 4740 children have taken admission in Balwatika against the target of admission of 3869 children in Balwatika and 871 in St.1 in Bhavnagar city. While the target of 871 children has been set in Class 1, only 546 children have got admission.
Teachers should be recruited for kindergarten
There is a severe shortage of teachers in the schools, they are also given the task of taking students to political government programs including census, BLO, elections along with administrative work, now from the current academic session, a child who has completed 5 years will be admitted to primary school, but in Balwatika, who has completed six years. Educationists are saying that the class should be started after recruitment and training, while only those who have completed it will get admission in class 1. Especially new recruitment should be done for Balwatika.
