Due to closed CCTV in Gujarat University, first AC, then answer sheet missing, new SOP was made, but when will they keep the record of camera active or not?

In Gujarat University, 28 answer books have disappeared from Botany department a week ago. It is alleged that these answer books are missing due to closed CCTV, Gujarat University does not have a record of how many CCTVs are on and some are closed even after a week of the incident. The new chancellor asked to take note of this but no data was collected.

More than 800 cameras are also on or off?
Gujarat University has more than 800 CCTV cameras. The university has about 55 departments, in which about 25,000 students study. The university operates from early morning to late evening, with lots of people moving around and the university doesn’t bother to check how many of the 800 cameras are off and how many are on.

First the AC and then the answer book disappeared due to closed cameras
Monitoring of all the CCTV cameras of Gujarat University is done by that department, but renovation and maintenance of CCTV cameras has to be done by computer department with role and also keeps its records. Even when the AC disappeared in the university, the CCTVs were off and the CCTVs were also off when the answer book went missing. Even after a week of this incident, the university still does not have the data of whether the CCTV is on or off.

CCTV of Botany Department closed for last 1 year
Answer book has disappeared from Botany department. CCTV cameras have been switched off in this department for the last 1 year. The department informed the Rollwala Center in writing but, the Rollwala Center did not heed. The Rolwala center informed the registrar, but the cameras remained off for a year. On the day the answer book disappeared, without any approval, the cameras of the Botany Department were started by the Rollwala Center by repairing them immediately. Not only this, if there is a complaint of camera shutdown in other departments, it is also repaired immediately.

Created new SOPs to cover past mistakes
A new SOP has been made after realizing that the Gujarat University has been late after the disappearance of answer book. Assessment center will be provided only in the section where CCTV cameras are on. In the section where the answer book will be held, along with university security, police arrangements will also be kept. The coordinator who will be assigned the responsibility for the examination must be present. During the examination, the responsibility outside Ahmedabad shall not be accepted and in case of going outside, the responsibility shall be assigned to another person.

About this, Director of Rollwala Center Bijendra Agarwal said that we have mailed the various departments and asked for details. The department itself has to monitor the CCTV and inform us.
