The name of the new Chancellor of Gujarat University was announced by the Education Department after the term of Himanshu Pandya, Chancellor of Gujarat University. Dr. Neerja Gupta has been Professor and Principal at RAPG College of Arts and Commerce, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Khanpur, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. From 2006 to 2012, Dr. Gupta has been a consultant to the Foreign Education Program of Gujarat University, Ahmedabad. He received his doctorate from Meerut University in 1992. They are fluent in Hindi, Sanskrit, Gujarati, Marathi, Assamese besides Urdu.
