The AMTS and BRTS bus facilities run by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation have been running at a loss for the past several years. Bus fares have also not been hiked for several years. So now AMTS and BRTS fare change has been taken by BJP officials of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. The hike is to be implemented from July 1, which was protested by the opposition Congress today at the Jamalpur AMTS transport office led by Leader of the Opposition Shehzad Khan Pathan, corporators and workers of the Congress. Vallabh Patel protested by chanting “Chor Hey Chor Hey Na”. BJP burnt an iconic bus with Bus Service written on it and protested. After burning the bus, the police detained Congress workers including Shehzad Khan Pathan.
AMTS-BRTS will be hiked by Rs 10 from July 1. As a result of which the opposition Congress held a protest today. Opposition protested at Jamalpur AMTS transport office. They brought a red colored bus with BJP Bus Service written on it and burnt it. AMTS Committee raised slogans against BJP Chairman Vallabh Patel. Vallabh Patel protested by chanting “Chor Hey Chor Hey Na”. The opposition leader has alleged that the price hike is to benefit the contractor. If the price hike is not withdrawn, the Congress workers will stop the bus and protest on the road. Regarding the price increase, the transport manager said that for this there is a partial change which has increased the normal price so that we can provide better facilities to the passengers.

The AMTS organization has now become completely private as not a single bus of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is plying on the road anymore. All around 800 buses belong to contractors. Buses of more than four contractors ply in the corporation. In which the buses of the BJP MLA and the current corporator’s company also run. Today, there was a discussion by BJP officials and officials about increasing the fare from two rupees to five rupees.
