Lord Jagannathji’s 146th Rath Yatra took place on Ashadi Sud Bija day. Lord Jagannath along with his brother Balaram and sister Subhadraji went on a city tour and gave darshan to the people. But this year due to God’s new chariot and lack of coordination, the Rath Yatra was delayed by an hour. A tragedy also occurred during the Rath Yatra in which a youth also died. While 37 people have been injured. Even though new chariots were made after 72 years, the handles and wheels broke. Due to which the chariots were stopped. Poor police coordination was also observed. God’s Rath Yatra has been completed this year with many obstacles.

The handle of Lord Jagannathji’s chariot broke
The 146th Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath returned to the temple at 9 pm but there were some hiccups in the Rath Yatra due to which the Rath Yatra returned to the temple late. Every year, the Lord goes out in a chariot to the town, as the chariots were very old, new chariots were made this year. After about 72 years new chariots were made. Construction started six months ago. After the new chariots were made, their trials were also taken. However, the trial was not conducted properly. There was a mistake somewhere in checking the chariot. Lord Jagannath’s chariot was returning to his temple when the handle of Lord Jagannath’s chariot broke near Delhi Chakla in the evening. Because of this, the ropes that were tied around the chariot by the sailor brothers for security were pulled by the rope and taken forward.

One side wheel of brother Balaram’s chariot broke
Even after the handle of the chariot was broken, the Lord’s chariot journey was being carried forward rapidly. When the chariot reached inside Manekchowk, as soon as brother Balaram’s chariot entered Manekchowk, one side wheel of the chariot broke. Due to any damage to the wheel, it was immediately repaired. It took about 10 to 15 minutes to repair the chariot and soon after that the journey proceeded and when it reached the temple itself, at one place the part of the top of the chariot broke.

All three chariots were newly built
After 72 years, the three chariots of God were newly made but it was said that somewhere there was a defect in them. Because of this, problems arose in two chariots while returning to their temple in the chariot procession this year. Due to which the Rath Yatra was already running late, it became even more late. When any new chariot is made then it needs to be trialled equally but the trial of the chariot was done outside on the road or in the temple premises. The trial of the chariot was taken only by moving the chariot forward and backward and sideways.

Chariots stood outside the temple for two hours
While early yesterday morning, after the Mangala Aarti of Lord Jagannath, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel started the Rath Yatra by performing Pahind ceremony at 7:05 am. But the Rath Yatra started late from the beginning. The Rath Yatra started late due to the lack of coordination between the police and the association as the trucks that had come to participate in the Rath Yatra were not dispatched quickly along the Rath Yatra route. Chariots stood outside the temple for two hours. When trucks leave from Jamalpur temple. At that time the police used to move the trucks forward quickly but this time the trucks were not moved forward anywhere by the police and the trucks were not allowed to move fast from wherever the trucks were stopped.

Balcony of house collapses in Daryapur, one dead
The chariot procession was returning from Saraspur to Nij temple. Around 3:30 pm, a part of the gallery of a house at Dariyapur Kadianaka collapsed. The slab fell on people standing and watching the Rath Yatra in the gallery, prompting as many as 38 people to be rushed to hospital for treatment of injuries. In which a youth named Mehul Panchal, who had come from Vastral to watch the Rath Yatra, died during treatment.

The municipal corporation system took action to issue notices to dilapidated houses along the Rath Yatra route. However, in case of dilapidated or dangerous buildings, public notices to demolish or repair them are issued by the municipal corporation system which is also reported to the police, but this procedure is seen to be done only on paper, due to gross negligence today. A young man died. Thus Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra has been completed today with some hiccups.
