‘My sister got a call at half past one’
Manish Mansukhbhai said that around half past one, my sister got a call that Tara Banvi had gone to get groceries and a building had fallen on her rickshaw. My two cousins and my cousin were in the rickshaw. My cousin drives a rickshaw. They came here to take food and fell on the building. Debris removal is underway, but no one has been found yet. We pray to God that my cousin and my nephew are unharmed. So Manishbhai is constantly calling his cousin, but no one picks up.

‘Had I not come out of the shop, my life would have been in danger’
Mitul Kishorebhai Kakar, who witnessed the incident, said in a conversation with Divya Bhaskar that the building collapsed, adjacent to it is my Cold Drinks shop. I came out of the shop when I heard the noise and it was a horrifying sight. The whole building collapsed, including my shop. Its debris has also fallen on my shop. Even my life was in danger if I didn’t come out for a while. I was very scared when this incident happened suddenly. The sight was terrible. I barely managed to save my life.

In a conversation with Divya Bhaskar, MLA Sanjay Kordia said that the first priority of the system is to extricate the buried people. We expect work to run 10 times faster. There is no information about how many people were buried, but one family said that our children were in the rickshaw, which was buried underneath. A one-storied building has collapsed on Datar Road. There were shops under this building. There is a huge crowd of people as there is a vegetable market in this area. At present, the work of removing the debris has been carried out. Municipal administration, police and MLA of Junagadh have also reached the spot. The NDRF team has also reached the spot and started rescue operations and crowds of people have already gathered.
