In the bid to make the state capital Gandhinagar a smart city, the lives of citizens have been put in danger since the onset of monsoon. Due to the torrential rains yesterday in Smart City Gandhinagar, two three-feet pits fell on the road which destroyed the pavement along with landslides. Due to the ongoing construction site in the city, the Smart Road has started to become slippery due to the sticky soil being stretched on the road. However, the opposition has alleged that the corporation and the Guda system are sitting blindly waiting for a major fatal accident.

As soon as it rains, Gandhinagar has started pouring in towards becoming a Bhuva city. Monsoon has started yet. Also, in the torrential rain yesterday, water has flooded everywhere and landslides have started in some areas. Due to which the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation’s Smart City has opened its doors.

For the last long time, the citizens have been repeatedly making representations to the system, claiming to provide smart facilities to the citizens, due to haphazard excavations and not being properly verified. However, due to the smart system not taking appropriate measures in time, the time has come for the townspeople to face frequent difficulties during the monsoon season.

While building a smart road in Gandhinagar, whether the officials including the municipal engineer or the authorities do the road work as per the tender as a contractor? The opposition has said that they never bother to check and the contractor constructs the road using the materials as he likes. Road level is not even taken. Because of this, the roads are being washed away everywhere in the rainy season. Due to the erosion of the road gravel, two to three feet long pits have been formed, breaking the pavement of the motorists.

Rainfall has started in Raisan, Randesan, Kudasan areas of the city due to yesterday’s rain. Also, most of the roads have started to become rough. The roads have become slippery due to the sticky soil released during the excavation of the ongoing construction site of many builders being spread on the road. The condition of roads especially on Bhaijipura to PDPU road has become dangerous. Then there is a demand among the citizens that the Corporation and the Guda system should immediately survey the roads of the city and repair the roads and immediately start the work of filling up the soil lying all over the place.

Regarding this, Congress councilor and Manpa opposition leader Ankit Barot said that the contractor has been digging new sewer lines and water lines in Gandhinagar Metropolitan Municipality area for a long time. Then he comes to perform Purana according to his own will. Excavated soil is also traded by this contractor. Soil is repeatedly sold and replenished with less soil. Due to which the complaint of big eyebrows often comes.

It was also reported that 4 big vehicles have fallen into the pit till today, 2 elderly men and a cow have also fallen into the pit. Now that the rains have started, the performance polls of Smart City are coming out. Landslides are falling everywhere. Roads are being washed away. Due to the work going on at the construction site of many builders, the roads have also become slippery due to the sticky soil. Which is likely to prove fatal in the coming days.

Regarding this, Aam Aadmi Party councilor Tusharbhai Parikh said that Gandhinagar’s broken system has also left the city in a hole. whose poles have been opened by the rain. So, if the city’s traffic signals are closed for the duration of the rainy season, the motorists will get some relief.

Kesrisinh Bihola, President of City Colony Mahasangh, said that in the name of Smart City, potholes have been dug all over the city. Earlier many representations were made to the system to perform pre-monsoon operations. In the name of development, pits have been dug and soil has not been properly leveled by the contractors. Due to which landslides have started falling everywhere. The asphalt of the road has started to crumble. As soon as the monsoon has started, the pole of the system has opened. Roads have become slippery due to construction sites of builders.
