The Chief Minister took stock of the situation in Junagadh district
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel reviewed the situation in Junagadh district after reaching the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC) from Gandhinagar. The Chief Minister held a video conference with the Junagadh District Collector and took stock of the situation. The Chief Minister received information about arrangements for moving people to safe places in Junagadh city where there is more water and also about the arrangements for delivering food packets etc. to the water-affected areas.
Two teams each from NDRF and SDRF deployed
Junagadh Collector Anil Rana Vasia and Commissioner Rajesh Tanna Superintendent of Police Teja gave information about the prompt and timely work done by the local system. Two teams each of NDRF and SDRF and local administration are working on war footing for relief operations in Junagadh city. Arrangements have also been made to send de-watering pumps from nearby cities including Rajkot to immediately evacuate waterlogged areas.
Junagadh was flooded due to heavy rains
Necessary arrangements, including food packets, have been made by the administration for the people who have been evacuated from the societies of Kalwa Chowk and surrounding areas in Junagadh city due to heavy rains from Mount Girnar. As the rain has stopped in the city for the past few hours, the water level is decreasing, so the situation is now under control. More than 10 inches of rain in Junagadh
Giving details to the Chief Minister, the Junagadh Collector said that due to more than 10 inches of rain in Junagadh, the city is flooded. Because of this, around 200 people have been rescued immediately, while earlier around 750 people were shifted to a safe place. Around 20,000 food packets have been prepared for distribution in the more flooded areas. The water situation in the city is currently under control but the district administration is on alert to deal with heavy rains during the night. Electricity has been restored in 80 percent of the city while teams are working continuously to restore electricity to the remaining areas as soon as possible.
Two national highways of Porbandar and Kutch closed
Relief Commissioner Alok Pandey said that due to heavy rains in the state today, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held an emergency review meeting at SEOC, Gandhinagar and gave necessary instructions to the district collectors. Relief Commissioner Alok Pandey gave further details and said that there has been heavy rain in Saurashtra and South Gujarat in the state. Two national highways in Porbandar and Kutch are closed due to water overflow due to heavy rains. While 10 state highways are closed due to over topping and 271 panchayat-owned roads are closed, which will start as the water recedes. Currently 736 people have been shifted to safe place.
9 teams of NDRF-SDRF deployed in heavy rainfall district
He said that due to heavy rain in the districts including Junagadh, Valsad, Gir Somnath and Porbandar, there has been a large amount of water in the dams of the state. In which Narmada dam is 67 percent full while 46 dams are full. A total of nine teams of NDRF, SDRF have been deployed in heavy rainfall districts. In this, two teams of NDRF and SDRF are doing relief work in Junagadh. So far approximately 358 people have been rescued. Necessary suggestions have been given after discussion with other departments including road and building department.
According to the Meteorological Department report, heavy rain is expected in Girsomnath, Junagadh, Kutch, Porbandar and Valsad Navsari in South Gujarat by tomorrow afternoon. The commissioner requested the citizens not to go out unnecessarily and stay at home at such times.
Important statement of Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel
It is worth mentioning that Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel also made an important statement amid the thunderstorm situation in Junagadh. He said that the Chief Minister had prepared to go to Jungarh but due to lack of visibility, he could not reach there, so he immediately left for Gandhinagar. They will keep constant watch from the Gandhinagar control room. Two NDRF teams are currently deployed in Junagadh and one more team will reach there shortly. Also two more SDRF teams are being sent to Junagadh. More than 250 people have been evacuated to safer places. A total of 5 fire teams from Rajkot city and district have left for Junagadh. 25,000 food packets have been sent to Junagadh by the Rajkot administration.
