Tree plantation was organized at Regional Science Center (RSC) Bhavnagar to make people aware about environment and explain the importance of trees in our life. 500 different trees were planted in this program with the support of Garden Department Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation.
Students participated enthusiastically
About 200 trees were planted in the RSC premises by school and college children to make the young generation aware of the environment and its conservation, including students of ‘Sir PP Institute of Science, Bhavnagar’, children of ‘Sparsh Foundation’ and Students of Balvantrai Parekh School, Kalasar participated enthusiastically.
Many programs to interest children
RSC Bhavnagar has been built by Gujcost, Department of Science and Technology, State Government, to inculcate a sense of science and scientific approach in the people of Bhavnagar and surrounding areas. In which various programs are organized to create awareness and interest in ‘STEM’ among the people through five state-of-the-art art galleries.
Trees are an essential part of the environment
As part of the programme, a lecture on “Ancient India and Science” was presented by Dr. Girish Gauswami, Project Director, Regional Science Centre. Besides, trees are an essential and important part of the environment. He said that preserving trees is the duty of all of us and suggested all those present to plant trees and preserve them. The event was organized with the slogan “Every Day Plantation Day” with the hope that the event will contribute to global reforestation efforts, restoring lost forests, repairing damaged ecosystems and mitigating climate change.
