A joint initiative of Navsari Kisan Morcha and the municipality organized a seminar to create awareness about light grain crops. Farmers, the BJP organization, and the women’s team of Mahila Morcha were present.

Indian people used to eat traditional grains, but with the changing daily life, heavy grains including wheat and flour were added. So health-related problems have arisen. A collective awareness campaign has been launched across the country to get Indian families to switch to light grains. Among the light-grain crops are kodara, nagli, bunti, vari, kang, samo etc. These crops are grown mostly in hilly tribal areas of South Gujarat and Panchmahal and Vadodara districts. These crops are the staple food of tribal people.
