A Mega Blood Donation was organized by Jashwant Patel, Standing Chairman of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation to help the poor Thalassemia children. In which 114 people donated blood voluntarily.

To meet the daily medical emergencies and to save the patient’s life, blood is required a lot and blood is the only such element. which cannot be made in the lab. It can be transferred from one person to another person only in the form of blood donation. So 14th June is celebrated as World Blood Donation Day to raise awareness about blood donation at the global level.

In Gujarat, more than 10 thousand children are suffering from thalassemia. Who needs regular blood throughout life. Many of these children come from very poor families. It is very difficult and expensive for them to meet their blood requirement. Realizing their pain, a blood donation camp was organized at Bhat, Jundal and Khoraj in Ward No. 11 under the leadership of Jashwantbhai Patel, Chairman, Standing Committee of Gandhinagar Mahanagarpalika.

A large number of blood donors donated blood in this blood donation camp organized with the noble intention of providing cheap and easy blood to the poor children with thalassemia and a total of 114 bottles of blood were collected in the entire camp. It is very important to have knowledge about thalassemia to eradicate the hereditary blood disease thalassemia, to spread awareness among the masses.

Thalassemia is a genetic blood disorder. In which the red blood cells and hemoglobin in the body become less than normal. The protein called hemoglobin is necessary to transport oxygen throughout the body. If it is not made in the body or the amount is less than normal, then the child has the possibility of thalassemia disease. Which can be known after blood test.

In infants, this can be identified after three months. A sick child needs frequent blood transfusions due to reduced blood volume in the body. As the amount of blood decreases in the body, the amount of Aryan increases. This can damage the heart, liver, lungs. It can also be fatal.
