A severe fire broke out in the account and treasury office on the first floor in Old Secretariat Block No. 17, Gandhinagar due to a short circuit. Important documents of the office were burnt in this fire. However, Gandhinagar Fire Brigade quickly brought the fire under control and prevented major damage.

A sudden fire broke out in the office of Accounts and Treasury on the first floor of Old Secretariat Block No. 17 in Gandhinagar this morning. The team of Gandhinagar Fire Brigade immediately reached the spot after receiving the message that the office where important documents were kept was on fire.

A large number of people had gathered after the incident of fire in the office. As the fire began to take on a ferocious form, smoke plumes were seen far and wide. Then the fire brigade team stopped the fire from spreading further by running water continuously.

However, many important documents kept in the office were burnt in the fire. Regarding this, Fire Officer KJ Gadhvi said that the fire started due to a short circuit. Ten percent of the documents have been damaged in this fire.

In this regard, the sources of the secretariat said that the finance department has given a grant of 77 lakhs in the year 2020 for the renovation of the office. But due to the working style of the officials, the renovation work could not be started till today. The money which is being acquired by the road building for the last three years.
