Patan district recently witnessed the effects of Cyclone Biparjoy and heavy rains. As soon as storm and rain were predicted, the district administration started working. Every department of the district worked diligently. All these operations are not done in one day. An agenda is fixed for each operation. All the people from the officer to the peon are involved in the work in every department. So what should be done before/during/after a disaster? What kind of arrangement should there be? What can be done in the future was discussed in the brainstorming camp held today.

A reflection camp on disaster management was organized at New Circuit House, Patan. Various officials were present in the Chintan camp organized under the chairmanship of District Collector Arvind Vijayan. According to the instructions of the Collector, various officials made presentations through their experiences on what can be done before, during and after the calamity. After seeing all the presentations, the District Collector gave necessary instructions to the officers.

In the brainstorming camp organized today, what should be the criteria for vulnerability mapping, minute details should be kept in mind in resource mapping, etc.

The Collector emphasized on making the most people aware of the disaster. Said to be in touch with more and more people. Also asked to pay attention to the smallest child, elders, animals, pregnant women etc. It was also discussed that even the smallest necessities are taken care of even in the shelterhomes erected during disasters. And also emphasized on documenting whatever work is done. District Collector Arvind Vijayan, District Development Officer DM Solanki, District Resident Additional Collector Pradipsinh Rathore, DRDA Director RK Makwana and various officials were present in the disaster management awareness camp organized today.
