  • 97% Sowing Of Kharif Crop Against Average 68% Rainfall In Patan District, Fears Of Drop In Production Due To Withdrawal Of Moisture

Patan district has not received rain for the past one month and there is a fear of creating a crisis for the agricultural crops. And there is a widespread demand to release water in the canals, creating a cloud of worry over the farmers. Patan District Agriculture Officer Mahesh Prajapati said that the district has recorded an average of 68 per cent rainfall while 97 per cent of the monsoon kharif crop has been planted in the district. ! At present, if the rain continues for another week or so, the crops will not be affected, but if the rain continues for more, there is a possibility of damage to the crops.

He said, due to moisture drag, production may decrease slightly. If it does not rain quickly, it can affect the crop production due to lack of moisture, so if there is water for irrigation, the crop can be good. For this, farmers have been demanding to release water in the canals to keep the canal-based command area irrigated.

If we look at the kharif monsoon planting in Patan district, against the total 3.16 lakh hectares, 3.05 lakh hectares have been planted so far, which is 97 percent in terms of percentage.

In Patan district, the maximum area of fodder has been sown this year in an area of 1.25 lakh hectares. Apart from this, 95000 hectare area of Divela has been planted. Bt cotton in 24000 hectare area and desi cotton in 22000 hectare area, urad in 17000 hectare area, millet in 5800 hectare area, guar in 5800 hectare area and mung in 4300 hectare area in the district.

The District Agriculture Officer gave some recommendations to the farmers for the crops in case of withdrawal of rains. He said that until the rains come, the farmers should remove the weeds so that moisture can be retained in the field. In addition, he said that intercropping will also retain moisture. But by recommending, he directed to give light irrigation with life-saving moisture, in addition to this, he recommended the farmers to adopt drip and sprinkler method along with the recommendation to use water sparingly.
