Many Western Railway trains will be affected due to Cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ in the coastal area of Saurashtra. 90 out of 137 trains have been canceled for the safety of passengers and train operations. Vadodara Railway Division has said in the official list. Before the storm hit, two children were killed and a woman injured when a wall collapsed near Bhuj GIDC. It was 180 km away from Dwarka on Monday night. It is expected to hit Halar around 10 am on Wednesday with wind gusts of over 100 km/h, disaster official M.M. Kawadia said.
The cyclone will spread over Jamnagar and Devbhoomi Dwarka districts towards Ghamroli Kutch. As a precaution, 4509 farmers and 2221 civilians were shifted to safe places in Kutch district. While arrangements have been made to evacuate 9579 people from 120 coastal villages. As the storm intensifies, a very dangerous signal number 10 has been put up at the ports of Halar.
Courts, schools and colleges closed in three districts
In Rajkot, the wind will blow at a speed of 50 to 70 kmph and there may be heavy rain for two days on Wednesday-Thursday. In Rajkot, Wednesday-Thursday, and in Jamnagar-Dwarka, schools, colleges, courts will be closed for three days. An alert was given in this regard on Monday evening in the low-lying areas.

Mehsana: 60 years ago on June 12, 1964, a cyclone formed in the Arabian Sea and made landfall about 20 kilometers from Jakhow port in Kutch. Meanwhile, strong winds blew at a speed of 135 km in Nalia, 105 km in Dwarka, 74 km in Porbandar and 83 km in Veraval.
NDRF-SDRF troops deployed in several districts
Gandhinagar: 3 teams of NDRF and 2 platoons of SDRF have been deployed in Kutch district. 3 NDRF teams have been sent to Rajkot. 2 teams each of NDRF-SDRF have been sent to Jamnagar and Devbhoomi Dwarka.
1 each of NDRF-SDRF teams have been deployed in Morbi, Porbandar, Gir-Somnath, Junagadh. 1 team of NDRF has been sent to Valsad and 1 team each of SDRF to Patan and Banaskantha. 1 team of NDRF has been kept in reserve in Gandhinagar and 1 team of SDRF in Surat.
