- Help – Baroda Citizens Council is providing training to women since 2019
- The organization aims to provide economic support to women while keeping traditional handicrafts alive
Baroda Citizens Council provides employment oriented training to women from 2019. Under which more than 500 women have been helped so far. Sewing, embroidery, jewelery bags, laptop bags, purses, cake-chocolate making are taught in BCC. Their objective is to support economically disadvantaged women. Traditional handicrafts are revived through training. After training, women are getting income of 6 to 7 thousand per month.
BCC focuses on skill development among women and motivates them. With the help and support of BCC, women have gained foothold by learning cutting and stitching operations. The woman of Baranpura said that after love marriage, she was looking for work in other’s house to help her husband, but could not find work. Later, he learned sewing from the institute and bought the machine in installments.
By doing sewing work, I help my husband financially. While another woman said that my husband was not helping financially and was not paying the son’s fees either. Hence took training in sewing from this institute. Now I earn good income by doing sewing work and pay my son’s fees.
As many as 10 training centers are currently running by the institute
This project was started from 2019. It has different centers. One year training is provided. Certificate is given after completion of training. Currently 10 centers are running. 30 women are trained at one centre. At present, the center is running in Mehta Pol at Mandvi. Also such centers have been started in villages like Maretha, Sanghwa, Kapurai and Bhayli. > Mamata Singh, Executive Director
