Due to the pre-monsoon drought in the state, before the loss of the mango crop, the farmers harvested a large amount of the crop and dumped it in the market. Currently, the price of mango crop has fallen. Following this, Dipubhai Tikiani, trader of Anand Wholesale Fruit Market, said that this time the market is overflowing with mangoes coming from every part of the country such as Dakshin Ratnagiri, Talala, Valsad, Kutch, Andhra, Tamil Nadu.

Due to rains, people no longer stock mangoes, but buy as per requirement. We are commission agents so we have to release the goods, but now the price of mangoes has halved. Currently, mangoes have become very cheap.

Kutch saffron mango box Rs. 1200, it is now Rs. 600 to 800, while the per kg price of ripe saffron mangoes in Gir’s local market has gone up to Rs 50 to Rs 70 in Anand’s market.

If we talk about last week, the price was around 100 to 140 rupees. Thus, the price was more than double compared to normal years, but the market of saffron mangoes has decreased due to abundance of mangoes in the market and the demand of mangoes in the market has decreased.

In the initial stage, the price of a box of 10 kg of raw mangoes was 800 to 1200 rupees, it has increased from 250 to 600 rupees per box of good quality saffron, due to which the buying situation has been seen in the market.

Another trader said that the rains that came in May have scared the saffron mango growers. The saffron season thus lasts the entire month of June, but now it seems that the season will end on June 15. So people sell it at whatever price, so finally mango growers are betting to get healthy mangoes before the season ends.
