An advocate of the Gujarat High Court sought information under the Right to Information Act, 2005 regarding the number of inmates, number of staff, assaults on police personnel by inmates and FIRs registered in this regard in jails in several districts of the state.

In which information has been given by Galpadar District Jail Gandhidham that the number of prisoners in the jail here is 309, the number of officers is 01, the number of employees is 33. Also from 2020 to 2023 there has been an incident of assault on prison staff by a prisoner. In which an FIR has been filed.

According to the information, there is zero incident of an inmate attacking the jail staff and an FIR has been registered regarding the Sub Jail of Patan district. There are 254 inmates at Rajpipla District Jail. 03 are officers and 29 are employees. An incident of assault on prison staff by inmates in Rajpipla jail during 2020 to 2023 is one. In which an FIR has been registered at Rajpipla Police Station.

The number of inmates at Morbi Subjail is 333. While the number of officers and jail staff is 24. Also, there has been 01 incident of assault by a prisoner on a prison employee from 2020 to 2023. In which an FIR has been registered.
