During the school entrance festival held on June 12 and 13 in 908 government primary schools in Mehsana district, 16,674 children were enrolled in Balwatika, while 1,889 children have got admission in Class-I. While in these two days, Rs.25 lakh cash and Rs.1.80 crore worth of items have been donated in schools. Notably, the government only gives a grant of ₹ 500 for the school entrance festival, but this public participation program also provides Tithi food to the children from donors.

This year, during the school entrance festival, donors in every village randomly donated to the school, in just two days, items worth Rs. 1.80 crore including TV, computer, seat, mid-day meal plate, office, uniform, water tank and Rs. 25 lakh in cash were donated. In which the maximum amount of Rs.12.27 lakh in cash and Rs.31.76 lakh in kind has been received in 127 schools of Bijapur taluka. A total of 16,674 children have been enrolled in Balwatika with 8568 Kumaras and 8116 girls found during the Pravesh festival. While 1006 boys and 873 girls have been found, 1879 children have been admitted in class-1. Along with this, 123 children have been re-admitted and 52 disabled children have also been admitted.

It is to be mentioned that the state government only gives a grant of Rs.500 to the school in the school entrance festival, but in the event held in the presence of dignitaries and officials, the small expenses are from the composite grant, while the expenses from the mandap to the children’s tithi food are done from the donors in public participation.
