Cyclone Biporjoy is likely to reach the south coast including Saurashtra during the next 12 hours. Taking this into consideration, 15 coastal villages of Khambhat in Anand district have been asked to be on alert. Cyclone Fantype is likely to affect coastal areas in Gujarat. Fifteen coastal villages have been alerted by the district collector. Taluk officials have been instructed to keep 14 school buildings on stand-by in case of need for evacuation during the storm.

Anand District Collector reviewed in detail the measures taken to ensure the safety of the citizens of 5 coastal villages against the possible storm. 15 villages have been surveyed and arrangements have been made for evacuation of families likely to be affected by the cyclone.

The collector then visited Vasana village on the sea coast of Khambhat taluk. The salt farmers here, who have stopped their operations, as well as the nearby residents, urged them to move to a safe place in time. As a precautionary measure, the sarpanch and talati of the village have been instructed to review the arrangements of swimming teams, life jackets, lights, ropes, boats in 15 coastal villages in view of possible storm.
