The court sentenced businessmen 1) Tarjanpari Keshupari Goswami (a food business operator who supplied the sample - partner of the firm) to one month imprisonment and a fine of Rs.1 lakh and (2) Sombhai Babubhai Khunt (a partner of the firm) to one month in prison and a fine of Rs.1 lakh. and (3) ordered Patel Ras (Manufacturing Partnership Firm) to deposit an amount of Rs.50,000 as compensation in the Municipal Office and sentenced to further 1 month imprisonment in default of fine. Also, a total of 12 businessmen selling food items in Ada Padak Road area of the city were checked by the Food Safety on Wheels van by the Food Department team. In which 3 traders were notified about the license and in addition to this a total of 2 samples were also taken by the Food Department as per the details mentioned under the Food Safety Standard Act-2006. Which has been sent to the laboratory for testing. Action will be taken after receiving the report.

Food Safety Officer of Rajkot Municipality’s Food Department K.J.Saravaiya said on the last On June 6, sample of ‘Mango Milk Shake (Loose)’ was taken from ‘Shri Patel Ras’, Popatpara Main Road, in the presence of the witness panel. A report issued by a food analyst at the Food and Drug Laboratory, Vadodara, declared the sample ‘unsafe food’. About which Mu. 1-1 lakh fine and 1 month imprisonment to the partners of ‘Patel Rasa’ firm by the court and Rs. 50,000 has been ordered to be deposited in the Manpa.
A criminal case was filed
A criminal case was filed by Food Safety Officer KJ Saravaiya before the Municipal Court in accordance with the Food Safety and Standards Act-2006 and the rules thereunder. Taking into account all the documentary evidence and presentation by the Municipal Court, Magistrate Nehaben T gave the verdict in favor of the Rajkot Municipality. Kariya booked those responsible under Section-59 of the Food Safety and Standards Act-2006.
