Unveiling BGMI 2.8 Update: Zombies Edge Mode, Hoverboard, and More Thrilling Additions

Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) has just rolled out its highly anticipated 2.8 update, introducing an exhilarating zombie-themed game mode known as ‘Zombie’s Edge.’ The update, available for free download on both Android and iOS platforms, unlocks the new mode on the Erangel, Livik, and Miramar maps. The Aerolith Lab and its surroundings take center stage during this event, featuring hordes of ‘mutants’ to combat, including the challenging Berserker and Ripper variants. The Berserker, a muscular foe, wields a transforming right arm capable of shifting between a razor-sharp blade and an armored fist. Meanwhile, the agile Ripper utilizes its speed to execute close-range slash attacks.

Zombie’s Edge is the same game mode previously introduced in the international PUBG Mobile version, and while any India-specific modifications remain undisclosed, the patch notes suggest the features are identical. Additionally, the 2.8 update introduces Mutation Gauntlets, offering players enhanced abilities such as a powerful slam attack that dispatches zombies in one hit and a Great Smash moveset reminiscent of Doomfist’s ultimate from Overwatch 2. The Ripper variant of the gauntlet adds a dash move and the ability to perform slashing maneuvers.

The narrative unfolds within the heart of the infection, the towering Aerolith Lab, acting as a living organism absorbing undead forces to grow stronger. Upon completion of the absorption process, a formidable ‘Rage’ Berserker mutant emerges, offering substantial loot upon defeat. The update also introduces the Maglev Hoverboard, facilitating swift traversal across land and water, along with a festive ‘Halloweeks’ update featuring carved pumpkins, disco lights, and dancing mutants.

For those unfamiliar, BGMI emerged after the Indian government’s ban on PUBG Mobile due to privacy and security concerns. Recently unbanned in May, BGMI implemented playtime restrictions and a parental verification system for in-game purchases. The relaunch introduced the Nusa map, a tropical zone featuring ziplines and the Super Recall feature bringing back deceased teammates. While initially granted a three-month ‘trial approval’ by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the current status of the ban remains unclear.

Battlegrounds Mobile India continues to be accessible on both Android and Apple iOS devices, offering gamers an immersive experience with the latest 2.8 update.
